Our Second Section of this Chapter

Being in this class has taught many things that I didn't know about the Civil War. This war was a very important part of our history. The Civil War contributed a lot to the slaves becoming free. The slaves were very miserable during this war. They were treated as an inferior. This war started because the Northern states didn't want the new states to be pro slave. So the South got mad and was like well why not. So this is why the Compromise of 1850 was so important because this made each state that wanted to join the union have the choice of being a free state or a pro-slave state. When California became a free state the South got mad and put the Fugitive Slave Law. Then Abraham Lincoln ran for president and won. Once this happened 7 states seceded from the union because they didn't want to become free states. Then the war began in 1861-1865.

Yara,

You have certainly been learning and thinking about our history. Do you think it is important to know about the past?
